No need to spend all your dollars at Starbucks when you can easily make your own hot chocolate mix at home for a fraction of the price and you can use any milk you like including dairy free options such as soy milk, almond milk, or coconut milk!
Combine all the dry ingredients and mix well.
Store in an airtight container.
Heat one cup (250mls) of your preferred milk either in the microwave or on the stove, do not boil.
Add two tablespoons of the hot chocolate mix and continue stirring until it's properly dissolved, adjust sugar to taste.
For larger batches of hot chocolate you can make it on the stove in the same manner.
If you have chocolate chips stir in one tbsp of them into the hot cocoa until they melt, and then if desired you can also top it off with mini marshmallows.
We have tested this with both soy milk and almond milk and it worked great with both, it should work with any dairy free milk you prefer.
Large batch - if you are making more than one cup it's easiest to make this in a pan on the stovetop.
Nutrition - assumes 16 servings and does not include any milk, chocolate chips or marshmallow toppings.
Storage - will keep in an airtight container for up to six months or until the use by date on the cocoa powder that you used.
