An easy Gluten Free Apple Crisp version of the classic dessert.
Preheat your oven to 375F, you'll need a baking pan that's approximately one quart (1 litre)
Mix the lemon juice, starch, brown sugar, and water together in a large bowl.
Cut and peel the apples into large chunks and mix into the lemon water mixture in the bowl, and once they are evenly coated place them in your baking dish.
Mix the Apple Crisp topping ingredients together in a bowl including the gluten free rolled oats, almond flour, slivered almonds, maple syrup, coconut oil (melted), vanilla extract and salt.
Evenly spread the topping over the apples.
Bake for 30 minutes or until golden on top.
Serve hot.
Gluten Free Oats - If you are making this for someone who eats gluten free you must ensure that you use certified gluten free oats, regular oats can have gluten contamination.
Storage and Reheating - you can keep this in an airtight container and eat it hot or cold. I just reheat it per serving on a plate in the microwave, the topping is not quite as crisp but it works in a pinch.
Apples - you can use any variety you have but I prefer to use Granny Smiths because they are firmer when baked and they are not very sweet to lend themselves well to this recipe with sugar added.
